When seeking for cybersecurity education, the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designations are vital to look for (DHS).

NSA CAE Designated Institutions for Cyber Security in Connecticut

Online Cyber Security Programs in Connecticut

Because Connecticut has a limited number of educational options, enrolling in an online cybersecurity school is one of the more flexible options. When it comes to CAE-approved educational programmes, there are no online options. Residents can, however, choose from recognised colleges in other states that offer online programmes. Other authorised schools and institutions also offer some online options.

Online courses offer flexible scheduling to accommodate any student’s demands, such as completing a degree while working full-time. In many cases, these programmes will provide on-demand coursework and recorded lectures, but there will be assignment deadlines and exam dates to meet. Courses are usually provided in a seven- to eight-week schedule, but they can also be identical to the on-campus version. Online programmes can allow students to pursue a programme without having to travel or relocate to a school site.

Master’s in Cyber Security Degrees in Connecticut

Admission to a higher-level cybersecurity programme, such as a Master’s degree, will have a number of criteria. At the very least, an undergraduate degree, usually a Bachelor’s degree, with a cumulative 3.0 GPA is required. In the final years of the programme, higher scores are very useful. Prior courses in many levels of mathematics and computer programming should be completed. Entrance exam scores, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), may be required in some situations, or they may be optional and used to boost a prospective student’s application.

There are no approved CAEs that provide a Master’s degree in cybersecurity at this moment. There are alternative options available, such as Sacred Heart University’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Quinnipiac University’s online version of a similar curriculum.

Connecticut Cyber Security Careers

Although the cybersecurity sector in New York is not as strong as in surrounding states in the Northeast, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are still over 1,000 job openings for information security analysts. However, salaries are comparable, with an annual income of more than $112,900. This places it on par with Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. Danbury is one of the highest-paying metropolitan areas in the US, with a population larger than that of Washington, DC.

Top Cyber Security and Tech Employers and Organizations

Harman, a Samsung company that makes specialist electronics for autos and entertainment venues, is one of three Stamford companies to make the Cybersecurity 500 list published by Cyber Crime Magazine. They bought TowerSec in 2016 and are looking into vehicle cybersecurity. As automobiles become more reliant on personal data to provide a more personalised experience and as they adopt more automated engineering, this connection must be safe to protect both consumers and automakers.
